Natural (and therefore recyclable), non-combustible, and durable (its lifespan is considered to exceed 100 years!), slate is naturally synonymous with quality when it comes to roofing. But also with a certain prestige since, in black color, slate has a beautiful aesthetic. Slate also rhymes with good thermal insulation, which is never negligible.
